Dont bother mate

Get an air pressure meter (or whatever they're called) and place it in various places around your bonnet, and measure the flow while driving. Pick the spot with the most pressure, which will most likely be way back near the windscreen, and install your scoop there.
Then, find the spot(s) on the bonnet with the least pressure and put some vents there so that your hot air can escape.

I doubt it will do any good though, imagine how much heat the engine, turbo and exhaust components are producing.

Sounds like to much drama, I think I'll consider doing some other mod's that's already tried & tested.

Im planning a backwards facing scoop on my D1, just forward of the mid point of the bonnet. Pretty much most cars will have a low pressure zone just aft of the nose, gradually increasing to a high pressure zone at the base of the windscreen. So my plan is to have a vent into the low pressure zone so the air flows throught the rad/fan and gets sucked out of the vent. Just to help cooling really.

If you have the scoop too far back, you may actually push air back into the bay which will harm cooling.

When thinking about heat exchangers, people often forget about air exits, so they'll run ducts/scoops to a cooler, but nothing on the 'hotside' to allow good airflow through the heat exchanger (all about having the pressure differential in your favour) Look at a race car/aircraft etc and any heat exchanger will have a smooth duct taking air to the unit, then a similar or larger duct taking the heated air away from the unit.
