    D1 2in Suspension Lift

    Hi all,

    I have a '97 300Tdi D1 and I'm looking to fit a 2in lift.
I've read many a thread on this topic, but I still have some questions.

I'm pretty keen on the flexy coils from Suspension Stuff, but I'm unsure about the best shocks (and size of shocks) to pair them with.

I've seen people using +2in shocks and I've also seen some builds with +5in shocks.

I spoke to Steve from Suspension Stuff this morning and he said it seems to change with each vehicle. On the website they mention using a +3in longer shock, but only sell +2in.

Does anyone use these coils or know the best setup for them?

    Cheers!

Thanks pistolpete, I've heard great things about that kit, but was unsure if it would make the most out of the disco's rear end flex potential. Sounds like a great deal though.

    Do you use dislocation cones?

I've added nothing else but the suspension kit,

it made a huge improvement to flex and general 4wd ability.. love it!

be careful with the rubber donut on the prop shaft.. this can wear quickly with a 2" lift.. you might need to make the RRC propshaft conversion..

I also have been looking at that kit from suspension stuff. Do you need to make any additional changes with a 2inch lift ie panyard rods or castor angles. Or is 2inches not big enough to affect those?

I also used the Suspension Stuff 'mates rates'kit on swmbo's disco 1. No other mods. My only critism is their shocks mite be a touch on the firm side. Quite happy tho, expecially considering the price.

From what I've read, it's not necessary for a 2" lift. Castor correction makes it a little more comfortable on the highway though.

Here's part of an article from 4WD Custom Guide I found on a D1 ute project.

    DiscoUte

    DiscoUte2
    DiscoUte2 (Bigger)

    DiscoUte4
    DiscoUte4 (Bigger)

He's done a 2" lift and used +5" shocks. What modifications are needed to utilize +5" shocks? Brake line extensions, dislocation cones, extended bump stops?
