Thumbs up Winch install and more bits, Big photos

    Ok....

Here is another random thread of what has been going on with my truck.
This week is the winch install into the Bar and a Custom bracket too mount my winch controller and second battery fuse box under the bonnet.

Im not sure if this is interesting for anyone or not but i guess you never know.
Im about 70% done on this one so more photos too follow and eventually some flex photos from the long travel suspension kit.

Here is the space i have too work with for the winch control box and the fuse box on the other side im going to remote the winch controls into the cab so its just a safe place for the relay.

working out the Relay Negative switching for the in cab controls more too follow on this one later.

Bending up the bracket before welding and drilling its made out of 3mm mild steel becouse its what i had lying around a little too industrial for the bracket though 1.5 mm would have been heaps.

Drilling the holes for the fuse box mounts into the second part of the bracket with HSS bits on the Drill Press.

Test fitting the winch solenoid and checking the wire pin out for remote control

    Painting my finished bracket

measuring and fitting the 12000lbs winch

the winch all installed on the front

Under the bonnet is getting their that fuse box is going too control everything through a realy bank that doesn't start or make the car go. just got too move everything across .

Well that's it for this weekend.

Ps anyone got a good idea for waterproofing the new fuse box i would love too here it as im thinking sickaflex atm.

    Night all

    Patto.

Really good Gary the key is too make sure you keep the original filter retaining cap on the filter otherwise the air sucks around the filter and not through it.

As it was designed to do, a total waste of the area of the filter, I had one setup like this (prev. owner) and the area on the side of the filter was blocked solid. Changed over to air in the end as designed, better fuel economy and power, will post up a pic, regards Frank.

is that the stock V8 airbox? I have a Tdi and just fited a snorkel and would like to ditch the stock airbox and adapter, as its just too bulky and convoluted. Might have to pick one up for a look if it is the V8 item.

The one pictured came off my 93 V8 disco, it replaced one the same as in splatters pic up the top of the page, which is the standard setup with a Safari Snorkle kit and it is now on my 94 Disco 300TDi and works well, if you need more room get rid of that ridiculous water bottle and put one out of a passenger car, regards frank.

Ha, true, but i like only filling it up every few months...

I fitted a knock-off snorkel and while it seems well made, the intake adapter seems pretty small in diameter, which i wouldn't care except I can no longer hear the turbo (which might mean its less restrictive, dunno) and im sure it has sliiightly less power, but im not sure if its just in my head or not. Hence I wouldn't mind plumbing in a V8 filter so it can have 3in pipe the whole way.

    Cheers,
    Jeff
