Magic product. I have all the joints, conectors. etc., on my low mount winch wrapped with it. Used it for many years on offshore oil rigs with good results.

I have used it to seal leaks in underground gas mains. Wrap the whole damn main with it.

A truly great product. One of those products that's been around for a century or more and hasn't been bettered.
Messy as hell to work with, also comes in semi-solid blocks.

ANYONE who says it's great obviously has NEVER had to wrap piles underwater with it. Horrid stuff, throw away all gloves, wetsuits tools everything that comes into contact with it.
Spent two weeks in the hunter river wrapping some steel piles, Went through 16 suits, god knows how many gloves, tools etc. Then there's wrapping the stuff in the plastic outer. It's like climbing a greased pole holding a sheet of perspex.

hehe, yes it is a truly terrible job. Been there, done that.
The stuff gets everywhere, but it does work.

Is this a heavy-duty/steroid cousin of that old cloth insulation tape ? - "Megamoid" or something like that. - A bituminous (?) impregnated fabric, the black stuff stained your fingers/stuck them together
- Sparkies of early last century used it, before vinyl insulation tape was invented...
