Driveline Whine R380
Hi all,
trying to figure out where the whine is originating from. Have most people had the whine from the transfer case, gearbox or other?? Have had a slight whine from new (about 13yrs) very faint. Now it seems to be a lot louder especially after a hill cimb.
Have to pull the gearbox out for a clutch change and would like to get this sorted at the same time.
Cheers
Luke

It's more likely to be the transfer case rather than the gearbox.
Does it change with the gears/engine speed? If not, then I'd say it's probably the regular transfer case whine, especially if it's been there for 13years & hasn't failed yet.

never underestimate the power of a good oil change, if you're there anyway, as has been said some whine is normal, if it still all works ok, chances are nothing has gone wrong.
