Yeah seriously just take it straight to Ritters, they will charge around $300 and they know how to do it right and will do their best to try and save the mouldings so you don't have to replace those too. I should have taken it there but went for the quick easy option...big regrets! Ritters or another reputable Landy mechanic who knows their stuff, NEVER someone who cringes at the idea of working on a Land Rover.

I'm so annoyed now I think I will ring them up and have a go at them, I wonder if I've got any legs to stand on or if I've just got to suck it up.

I doubt anyone in oz apart from a stealer has OEM LR glass so you will be getting a pilkington replacement most likely, but fitting is a different matter.
I had a new tinted screen fitted to my 85 rangie for $180 and the guy did a great job and he was just a mobile guy.

Well the last screen I had put on my Disco was from my normal non-landy mechanic and they did a decent job, no leaks or anything, just they re-used the mouldings so they looked a little tatty but they were fine. That screen had the right amount of black stuff on it to cover the back of the mirror so maybe there are just a few different types of screens floating around. O'Briens did stress that they didn't want to send out just anyone to fit it because it was going to be a bit tricky so they waited until they could send out a two man crew, one of which apparently was very experienced with fitting them anyway so I do have a reasonable amount of faith in the job itself and the guys that did it. Just a bit annoyed that I'm going to look at it every time now and see something I don't like.

We'll see when it rains, then I might have a slight leak in the screen as well as my damn sun roof hahaha

I had my last screen put in by a mobile guy.
Managed to get a heated screen at a great price, compared to LR,so I got it.No leaks, nothing, even used the old moulding..

If it was an insurance job paid for by someone elses insurance,I would specify a heated screen.Thats what they originally came out with, thats what I would want put in.

Good luck young Angus, hope the screen dont leak..

    cheers

Thanks Gazza I've got my fingers crossed, damn thing is just going to be staring me in the face every time I look at it that's all, I'm sure I'll get over it so long as it doesn't give me any trouble. I'll just go drive close behind some other earth moving truck on a highway in a few months time

Shame I didn't get to take her out today it was a great wet day here in Melbourne, would have been a good chance to test it out. Maybe I'll just get her out and leave her in the driveway and see what happens in the morning...

Obrien repalced the screen in my D2 with no issues at all.

I specified OEM glass only to my insurance company and Obrien and that is what I got along with all new seals and a new A-Pillar moulding as one of mine cracked when they removed it.

You couldnt pay me to use a particular and popular windscreen company , they couldnt even fit a screen to a HJ Holden ute properly the turd they sent out decided to just mastic the screen in instead of using the origional style of seal , he got the mastic on the dash , the passenger seat , the roof & both guards & whats worse I get wet carpet from a heavy dew ! Unfortunately the son who owns the car has done nothing about it & has now lost the receipt. He was even there when the clown fitted it & pointed out the crap all over the car but the arsehole told him to clean it . NEVER EVER AGAIN. Bye the way he also managed to bend ALL the clips that hold the stainless trim around the screen this particular company sucks (at least locally)

PM me if you wish to know the name of the company
