Mines a 95 the auto and transfer came out of a 96
The transfer came out of my dozer and was working fine before the transfer to dirtdawgs.
The problem is it seems to be stuck in hi range.
So short and sweet how do you adjust the transfer case lever to make it Right.
And don't goto to Gippsland offload cause they don't know land rovers
This transfer case was perfect before we (myself and dirtdawg) removed it. The transmission required major adjustment but the transfer case wasnt touched.
Is there a linkage we can adjust to take it out of hi range and make the disco drivable.
There is an adjustment nut for the High/low on the shaft that goes from the lever to box. Easy to get at from above but may be a fiddle from underneath. I will be in the shed in the morning and can take some pictures of the one I have on the floor if you like. The problem also sound like the diff lock lever as it seems to be chirping. This is on a different lever. I would remove it from the spigot and do it manually to confirm it's only adjustment.
Dave can u explain more what you mean about removing it from the spigot, I had the transfer and auto fitted by a so called reputable mechanic and now I'm just trying to sort thr probs out
That nipple or spigot that I asked you to check above the front drive shaft on top of the transfer. There is a 10mm nut on top of it. Make sure the nut and linkage is right down on the shaft and not spinning on the shaft. If you remove the linkage you can put the 10mm spanner on the bottom of the nipple and turn it manually to release the diff lock. This will confirm the box is ok and the linkages need adjusting. I'll take some pictures tomorrow to show what I mean.
Problem solved a little tweak here adjustment there give it a giggle and presto no more chirp
Cool, Saves me uploading the pictures then. I though that all it would be as all the linkages had been touched in the install. A bit surprised the installer did not test it out afterwards.
