the brakes on my 93 Disco are hard and it takes more effort to stop. they seem ok most of the time , but then they feel hard at the pedal other times. anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it ??

Let me guess. Works fine first time but hard the next time. More of a problem when you are traffic and are braking a lot of times close together.

It's your vacuum pump ( if a 200tdi) or the brake Servo.

Quick way to test is pump the brake hard with the engine off and then press hard on the brake and then start the car.

The brake peddle should go soft as the engine starts. if it does not then you servo or vacuum pump is on its way out.

get a torch and look at the brake booster, they crack around at each master cylinder stud and you loose vaccuum slowly when doing alot of braking
