    more steering issues

So driving home friday night (a 2km drive) my disco 3.5v8 decided it wanted to leave its steering fluid along the route. The leak seems to be coming from the botom of the steering box. Looks as if it was quite a spray as there is fluid all over the place. I refilled the fluid (of which there wasnt much remaining) to try and see what was actually happening and now the leak has stopped. Has anyone else had a similar issue and does this mean its time for a new box or is it a serviceable part.

On a cold day or night, the power steering fluid is thicker than when hot, so the pressure in the system can get so high that it overpowers the output shaft seal for a number of seconds after start up.

When I lived in Riyadh , when the temps got down to -5C , there would be 4 lines of PS fluid from 4 adjoining driveways , where we had RRCs.

    New seal required.

    Thumbs up

Thanks. Sounds simple enough. Time to study the rave.
