    Tired old paint

My bonnet and roof are looking well and truly 21yrs old. Seems like it's entire life was spent in the sun. Just wondering if anyone here has done the old rattle can job and is it actually worth it or just looks rubbish.

It will look exactly like what it is. Unfortunately, if you want it to look decent, you may have to go one step better than that. Prep work is the longest and most expensive part of painting a car if your getting someone else to do it, so if you are up for having a crack at the prep work, actually getting the paint applied profesionally isn't as expensive as you might think, particullay if you are just doing the bonnet and roof.

If you need the number of a good spray painter, PM me and I can put you onto someone decent that can give you a quote, and won't try and rip you off.

Cheers for the offer mate but I won't bother. The old girl has a hard life anyway. It spends a lot of time doing some harsh off road driving so there's a couple of dents and scratches all over it. It's never gonna look pristine.

I have seen some people spray the bonnet flat or satin black with a can and looks ok. Gives it the Camel Trophy look and easier than colour matching. I would have a crack at the roof to if you are not to concerned about perfection.

What colour is your car. I have to good bonnets for sale, you could be lucky. The colour is 575 i think. It's a greeny grey.
    Cheers, David.

Think im gonna give the matte black a go. I actually love the imperfections in the old girl. Part of its charm. The roof is far worse then the bonnet so i figure i might as well have a crack. It couldnt really look much worse up there. Looks like i might have me a little project for sunday.
