G'day all..... Has anyone bought a non/abs brake master cylinder which only lasted a matter of weeks.
In my case I had the usual problem with the brake pedal going to the floor, so I purchased one from British Four Wheel Drive in Hobart. Speedy delivery it arrived next day, that was 4 weeks ago, every thing was fine went out yesterday you guessed it brake going to floor again. I'm ringing the dealer up tomorrow But my question is What else could it be???
I'm loosing absolutely no brake fluid out of M'cylinder, today I pulled all the wheels off and had a good look, no leaks ( I mean there's no dropage in level in the M'cylinder so I was wasting my time) while I was at it I bled the whole system looking for air in the system. Nothing, I can't believe the new Cylinder only lasted a month,,, I wonder what the dealer will say being he's in Hobart and I'm in Sydney? Has ANYone had a similar experience???????????????

So, does your model have a single brake line to each front caliper, I had a similar problem on my 93 Disco, replaced Master cylinder to no avail.
Turned out to be my model with 2 brake lines to each front caliper had an extra bleed nipple on the outside of the caliper, which could not be seen unless you removed the front wheels. This meant that the outside pistons had never been bled and were full of crap, which when the brakes warmed up allowed the foot pedal to go to the floor. Which no amount of pumping would bring the pedal feel back up, had to let sit for 1/2 an hour till near cold before any pedal feel.
Yours being a later model should not have this system, I would suggest that the Master cylinder is at fault, Regards Frank.
My 97 Disco does the same thing but only when the brakes are really hot and they come good after letting them cool for a while. I am going to try some higher temp brake as I suspect the fluid is overheating in the callipers. I've changed the fluid a couple of times and there does not appear to be any air in there.
i had a problem like that with a classic car of mine turned out the piston got stuck at the far end of the stroke![]()
G'day all......... Update from Monday 3rd,
After talking to British 4WD in Hobart and he in return talking to his suppliers
he told me that in 29 recent sales they haven't had a failure, my reply was well they have one now. He said he would replace it BUT here it is Thursday and I'm still waiting and still off the road. A phone call yesterday he told me it was coming, so's Christmas.
Am I being to critical? Another goody they won't me to pay the return postage to Hobart for the Faulty part. What do YOU call "Good Service"
