I have an '91 v8 disco into which Im attempting to fit an old high comp RR 3.5. Thoughts? Good idea? Folly? It runs gas hence my interest. I wish to use the disco efi,,is this doable or are carbies a better option alltogether?(Saw a lovely set of webbers on EvilBay).
First hurdle will be blanking off the fuel pump hole, and hoping the heads will be compatible. Power steering pump looks like an issue too. I dont know,, the too hard basket beckons. Cheers,(I hope.

Worst case scenario use the Disco heads then everything will fit. Injector notches are small, you could diegrinder them in or just ignore and hope for the best. Any mountings on the old heads that don't fit exactly may need a drill and tap in the right spot. EFI will run fine on the RR motor.
Disco heads should have bigger valves and all the ancillaries will bolt up, if the rr bottom end is in good nic you should gain a bit of poke. Where is this pump hole, rrc's have had electric pumps since very early 70's so shouldnt be one on an 84 rrc, wasnt one on my 85 rrc.

Soo, the disco heads are better? The hole which I assumed was for fuel pump is in the timing chain cover on the right side under the dizzy. I do like holleys, would that be a better way to go?
I have seen enough old Holleys leak and catch fire to disagree on the niceness of them on a dual fuel vehicle. If it was my job I would use the EFI heads and all the injection, possibly even an EFI cam if your old one is OK or get a new one. EFI works much better at steep angles than a Holley ever will. Fuel pump blockoffs can be bought at any speed shop or made out of a random scrap of steel or ally plate. Use a gasket as a shape template.
Thats interesting Bee. I hadnt thought of that! (re-steep angles). If I was to replace the cam would you or anyone have a suggestion to improve torque and still remain civilised for gas? Cheers.
