    Dead Remote

Well, my D1 is almost 16 yrs old and has had its buttons pushed many, many times. Now the battery holder thingie has come adrift from its wee solder moorings; and the little devil's beyond my ability to repair.

So........replacement. The local Landrover dealer quoted a cool $235 for a new one.

Has anyone had success with a generic remote......or am I stuck with having to buy the genuine?

I had the same problem, soldered it up and bought new buttons, fitted new battery and all is fine.
I think as well as buy genuine then you need to get it programmed by a dealer. More $$$.

Find some one that can solder and get it done, might cost you $20 maybe.

Thanks Dave, good advice. I'll just hold off for a week or so - have a locksmith getting back to me about a new product to be released this week that might do the trick - although I'll be suitably skeptical.

    Cheers
