    Another electrical prob

I'm near the end of fixing all the electrical faults with my disco but after going through some bog holes today I now ave a new problem.

As I was driving I noticed my tachometer stopped working, so I pulled over to check if it was the wire of the back of the alt had some off but it was ok, I then checked the voltage to find it's only 11.79 volts on the battery and the same on the alt. the thing that confuses me is there is no battery light come up on the dash but I can turn off the car and it starts fine. And I noticed one of the spade clips has two white wires coming off it and one goes to know where, is this normal?

Any help will be very appreciated as I am starting to loose my mind,

Also The motor is a 3.5L.

If the dash light isn't on it probably means the regulator is stuffed. Being a 3.5 you are better off getting a Bosch alternator off a suitable wreck and adapting the mount to suit. Early Magnas and Falcons had similar mounts. Some Bosch alternators (XE-XF Falcon) had a small round terminal suitable for the tacho, others you may have to solder a wire tag to an internal main diode junction. Easy to do on a Bosch. My mate bought a new 12v 120A Bosch alternator off the local sparkie for his 3.5RRC and it had a suitable tach connector built in. Making the different mount work isn't very hard.

As for your white wires, check their trace colours. Slate (grey) is the correct trace for the tacho, anything else is a ring-in.
