Where could this water be coming from?

Okay I need to narrow down my options and solve this water leak or it's going to haunt me well into my darkest dreams.
I have a leak that I found a while ago, water pooling into the front two floor wells of my D1 Tdi. Absorbed into the spongy underlay and found a bit of surface rust too which I cleaned up and rust proofed etc. etc.
I thought it was coming from my sunroof because I had noticed a sunroof leak that was coming into the actual car and dripping on the passenger seat.
I have just noticed lately that the leak is still there and I have wet floors again so I really want to sort this out. I have dried it out and am ready to check where it might be coming from. It seems to be coming down the A pillar and then into the floor well because it doesn't really seem like it's that wet up on the firewall and it always seems extra wet just at the bottom of the A pillar, but that's just a suspicion.
I want to test it out and see if I can eliminate points of ingress for water into these front floor wells. I'm thinking it can either be from the windscreen or the sunroof...and someone else has suggested the air conditioning tubes which may be blocked although I haven't used my air con in the past six months and it was still wet, but I will check those too.
Any other suggestions?

					I have same prob.
I have found rusty spots inside the RHS kick panel, and also in the plenum under the windscreen, right in the corner at the base of the A-Pillar.
Seems to be running down the A-Piller, and then comming out around the threads of the bolts that hold the lower dash support in. I think.

Used to have the same problem which seems to have gone away after the windscreen was replaced (due to damage from the last trip). Maybe some of the original bonding had given way.

Hi mine had a leak the same, I pulled the wipers off and the plastic trim and found a rust hole under it, which also rusted a hole in the fire wall behind the motor, also a rust hole each side in the corners of the fire wall where the factory drain holes are, this was know prob, as it got me $2000 off the origianal asking price, it did take 2 full weekends to find and fix though. Hmmm well I just realized that it is making both the front two floor pans equally as wet as each other it would seem, so whatever is happening is happening on both sides a very similar amount. I would think that if it was something like a rust hole it might not be happening symmetrically on both sides of the car. I'm thinking it could be something like those air conditioning tubes.
Damn cars!

ummm... just a quick thing to check, don't know what seats you got in there & how they are mounted, mines got RR seats.
The bolts go through the floorpan, and there were some old holes which had been siliconed over about a century ago and the silicon had disintegrated over time which gave enough water spray access to the carpet & underlay to make it nice and soggy....

Does the leak happen after driving in the wet?
I recall reading about an inner wing leak and water getting thrown off the front wheels. Did a quick search and found this Water leaking into passanger footwell - Discovery Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

My leak was from gravel etc being thrown from the front wheels, which damaged the little bit of paint that is on the panel. Then it then rusted through and let the water get inside and it stayed on the floor under the carpet and rusted the same panel from the inside.

Check front mudflap mounting bracket holes in floor. Plugs that are fitted either fall out or become loose after time.

check that the drain hoses for you air conditioner aren't blocked. Mud and dirt can cause them to block so the water from condensation in the a/c can't drain away. The result is water running down both sides of the hump and into the foot wells.
