    While I was under the car today relocating the new fuel pump (another story in the tech section), snapped a few photos to maybe help the discussion. The one from the side is the rear showing the protection under the rear flange. The others are all of the front - difficult angle to get holding the phone up there - I forgot also the drag link runs inside the unit as added protection. Forgive the oily diff but I guess some of you may be used to the sight of that.

    I'll crawl under the car at lunch time. IRRC the rear ones arn't in need of welded tabs but the front was.

    Looking at the QT web site there are a number of different variants of Diff guard for the Discovery. Some are welded and some are not. Note that the Defender and Discovery items are the same regardless of the part number.

    I looked up my part number from the order last year, the ones in the photos.
    1 x Diff Guard Package - A1050-60K(A1050-60K) for front and rear, is how they referenced it on the invoice.

    mine are the same...the only difference for me is my steering damper is at the front

    I relocated it to get it up higher and protect it
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
