Question Brakes, boosters n damn pedal switches

    Hey guys,

So I had this really unique issue with my 96 disco ... My brake pedal went hard and low and behold, I lost my braking

Ok, so the brake booster was fubar, hissing and chugging and with my foot hard on the pedal, I increased the revs and the pedal found its way almost to the floor, indicating to me the BVP was still working...
I replaced the booster, the old one was half full of old black brake fluid crud, along with a black grit, found also in the BVP hose, though after removing it and giving it a good going over with the air gun, no other crap was found, though I replaced the hose anyway ... The oil has got me thinking ... Does that mean the master cylinder is screwed, too!!?? It didn't seem to have any visible leaks when I removed it from the booster?

I have just one other issue ... Everything was removed and replaced in meticulous order (I tend to be a little anal about stuff) ... The brake light switch on the pedal box no longer comes into contact with the arm of the pedal, so I now have permanently illuminated brake lights, I thought maybe the switch was adjustable, but it's not, so I'm at an end as to why it isn't working like it did??
Is the shaft that attaches to the pedal from the booster adjustable? Does anyone have a solution?
A simple switch has turned into a bigger PITA than swapping out the booster!!

    Thanks for any input/help guys!

    Craig

    Hi Craig.
Just a thought but you haven't put your brake light switch in the hole for the cruise control switch?

Actually, scratch that thought. Apparently with the ABS switch you have to reset the plunger. Apparently they self adjust but you need to pull it out a bit first
