aircon never breaks in autumn does it!
started my beloved diesel disco (Moriarty to his friends) on sunday and it sounded like a flock of birds was under the bonnet, some WD40 later and all was quiet again, fine monday morning but they were back on the way home from work, then it all went quiet and the aircon stopped working.
the aircon belt has gone, left the building, that I can deal with, but all the pulleys seem to spin freely, the aircon compressor free wheels and spins smoothly with resistance when activated, so I'm worrried I will just replace the belt at the weekend and have it happen again.
there is a small amount of 'sideways' play in the tensioner pulley, even though it still spins freely, how much movement is too much, it only wobbles at most a couple of mm.
engine is an international 2.8 tgv, which seems to be exactly the same as a 300tdi for this.
only had the car a few months (loving it) and have no idea how old the belt was, but the previous owner was very good at maintaining the vehicle, so far I've found no botches or cheap fixes so I would expect the belt to have been in good condition, it looked ok when it got some WD!
any advice or suggestions will be very gratefully recieved as I'm just fitting a new belt and seeing what happens at the moment.
thanks in advance for any ideas

Do the 6203 bearing replacement thing on all three pulleys- there shouldn't be any wobble on any of them.

just had a look, soaked them for a bit and everything is working again but the bearings will need replacing no question.
at the moment there is a 6205LH in one pulley and 6203LU in the other, any idea what the difference is, if there is one at all, the engine is the international 2.8 TGV, so its sort of 300tdi but not, the belt turned out to be a different length for a start!
any help with the difference betwen the bearings will be very gratefully recieved, I would have thought they should be the same.
