1997 D1 V8i - engine swap from P38
Is the engine swap of the 4.6 from a P38 into a D1 an easy conversion, has anyone on the forum done it before?

Common as, you will need to use the D1 front timing cover, pulleys, camshaft and lifters, distributor, inlet manifold and injection. You will need a spacer on the crank pulley bolt and some dowels need to be changed/drilled. Not a massive job.

I have one (48D) in 97 D1 as my daily drive since the RRC died. The conversion was done before I got it and the only thing I have changed is the timing. IIRC the 3.9 in the D1 is a couple of degrees BDC and the 4.8 is a controlled by the ECU @ 15. Found 7-8 BDC seems to work well, although I am open to (constructive) suggestions
