    Tyres and lift kits

    Hey Guys,

I am looking at getting some new tyres for my D1 that is more or less stock.

I was looking at the Cooper ST's or hopefully the STT's but I wasn't sure what can fit under the car on the standard 16'' rim.

Will I need to lift the car to fit these tyres? If so, is a 2'' body lift the way to go? Would this require new brake hoses?

    Cheers,

    Mike

The first question I would ask is, what size tyres did you want to go. You stated a brand and model, but no size.

I am fairly new to the Disco scene (been with 4x4's for a fair while though), but as far as I understand you should be able to fit 245 75 R16 tyres on your stock rims no problem and they will fit without any lift, but you may require a bit of a cut to the rear guards in order to avoid wrecking your tyres completely, especially flexing.

Please, anyone correct me if I am wrong, always happy to learn from those more versed in LR law.

More info is required, If you do a search you'll find a heap of threads on this (Might want to rethink the coopers)

245/75/R16 is what I have on my 300tdi/Manual on a 2" lift I had to do the Camel Cut(cutting the rear guards) and it'll still rub on occasion.

excluding tyres rubbing any bigger than 245/75 and you start running into gearing issues with 300tdi/M a V8 auto will have less of an issue

but you can read through my thread here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...re-thread.html

    Cheers,

Cheers for that Rob I'll have a read and do some more research.

I guess all I'm after is a tyre with some good tred that will fit without any issues but will give me enough grip off road. Having said that, I was at Bendethera on the long weekend and the ATV's didn't have an issue!

    Thanks again

I've got the Maxxis Bighorns on both the Disco and the Series and like them but they get a bit noisy as they age

Got a mate with Kumho KL71 I reckon they are a better tyre at a simliar pice but I was in a hurry

I bought the car with Cooper ST on it after seeing 3 of the 4 blister/delaminate I won't get them again(I think the car might have been left parked on grass/dirt and water penetrated and damaged the tyre)

I have cooper st's on 16 inch alloy rim I run 265/75 and you will need a lift for these also you will need to trim the rear of the rear wheel arch and adjust steering stops (have not done yet)

excellent tyre originally on my 02 np pajero made that car better than it should have been of road on my disco seem excellent but haven't pushed them really hard yet but no reason the should do worse
