Fitting Defender Brake calipers to a D1?
Morning All,
I have a 97 Disco V8 auto, non ABS, solid rotors with 31 inch tyres on 15 inch King wheels with -25 offset. I have checked my booster, replaced my rotors, pads and fitted braided brake lines.
Braking has improved but I would like a bit more bite.
If I go to Defender front calipers:-
Are they the solid rotor ones from 1992 to 2010?
Are they single line?
Do I still use the same rotors or are they larger?
Will the larger calipers still fit inside my 15 inch Rims?
Can the calipers I take off the front be used on the rear?
I can get new ones for approximately $270 / pair freighted to Australia, is that a good price?
Thanks in advance,
Lee

Lee, firstly be VERY careful about the aftermaerket new calipers, I have sent 2 sets back as they had VERY poor castings where the pad sits/ runs. One of them was so bad the pads almost passed straight through
You are far better off replacing the calipers with used late defender ones, and upgrading to vented discs from said Defender. All models from MA VIN, (1994) including Puma use the same front caliper and vented disc, there are plenty of good used sets out there!
This is a good and simple upgrade. I have done a few now and the difference is well worth it.
