Not all have them - see here Unable to locate Spyder in 1994 Discovery

After reading several (thousand)articles on the miraculous Discovery spider I decided to either replace or plug mine to eliminate another potential problem or cause of my ignition woes.
So after stripping the dash down to reveal the pesky bugger it aint there. What the??? I thought all v8 D1's had em. I cant even find a plug or wiring to go to a spider. Surely I havent been looking in the wrong spot.
Everything I have read say it is a little black box behind the heater control panel. Am I mistaken?

Mmmm. Did read that last week 2
.
I have 2 button remote and a July 96 model.
According to rave and everything else I have read the immobilisation spider should be there. The car does have the alarm and central locking. Was the spider ever just incorporated into the alarm module?
Pete, there are a few V8's without a spider, I had a 1998 one I wrecked some years back where I traced the wiring to find it (All black wires in a 13mm split tube) and discovered behind the drivers kick panel there was the loom, already plugged into the bypass plug. No spider in sight.
