    There is a zinc coated water pipe that sits in the valley between the drivers side rocker cover and the plenum, connecting 2 rubber hoses, part of the pipe curves upwards with a brass (plastic) plug in it. It is the highest point in the cooling system and I suggested that the coolant should be added here to eliminate air locks, Regards Frank.

    Mine doesn't have this, the only "pipe" as such is the fuel line for injectors which has a valve of sorts with a black screw on cap.

    p.s. mine is a 96

    Ta anyway, looks like I'm changing the thermo tomorrow, as long as the rain stays away anyway.
    I just noticed whilst going through my manual that it states - 82 degree thermo for 3.5 & 88 degree thermo for 3.9. Repco sold me the 82 degree one, is this ok??

    82 C thermo will be fine in hot weather, although the Injection only goes to fully warm AT 82C so in colder weather you may use more fuel as the injection will enrich up to 82C.
    I found on cool mornings when I had an accurate temp gauge that my 3.9 would drop below 88C down hills etc.

    Thanks for that, so living where I do, Hervey Bay, where we might get 2 or 3 nights a year in single figures & a really really cold day is 22 degrees , that shouldn't be to much of a prob.

    Huge difference in ease of opening, old one opened but was real hard whereas new one opened with a lot less pressure, also old one had made in USA on it as well as 54mm. On the flip (spring) side the brass button has 180 A then under that 20 93, anybody now what that means? new one just has 82 on brass button.

    Just a s a guess, I would suggest 180F opening and it was made in the 20th week of 1993.
