    Hey,

going to change the oil and was wondering what your thoughts are on which oil filter and oil brands? i have done a bit of research but still unsure as to which would be best as there are so many choices.
Has anyone used the repco filters?
And can someone recommend me a Oil brand that have found goes well?

    Cheers in advance

Re filters, I used to use Ryco Z89A but now I use genuine ERR3340 - much the same price to me.

Oil? Penrite HPR Gas (I have an LPG-fuelled Rangie)

    Hi DaveV8i,
Royal Purple synthetic oil, Royal Purple filter or a Ryco, or a LR one which ever is easiest.
Oils you can go on about for ever, which ever one somebody says is good somebody else will say the opposite or have a bad experience. Also bear in mind if you go on a long trip and you have to do a change or top up think about how easy the same brand of oil is to get or you have to carry it yourself.
I've got no complaints about the oil I use, not cheap, neither is a new engine, hard to find on occasion so I carry enough to do a change when I travel on an extended trip. I do oil analysis every 10k, the analysis has never come back with anything out of the ordinary. Based on the oil analysis I change the filter every 5k and the oil every 10k, cheap insurance.
    Up to you....................

I just changed the oil and oil filter, it had a Coopers FT5916 Z1159 filter on it and I changed it to a Ryco Z89A.

The Coopers filter was a inch or so longer than Ryco.

    Is this a problem??

I change the oil every 5000 and filter at 10,000. Ryco filters only because the are readily available.
Also I have read that synthetic oils have issues in older V8 engines.
