    Question Leaking sump1996 TDI

Hoping for some advise that can solve my problem.Sump has been five off five times, four different sump pans and still the thing leaks. Same place every time between the three screws at the back end.The T seals have been replaced and are Ok. I have heard that Toyota sealant is a better bet than using L/Rovers blue stuff.

    Hi Chips,
I used the Toyota black sealant on the last engine I did, it has worked a treat, no leaks so far twelve months on. The assembly time is quite critical with the Toyota sealant, best be well organised, have everything ready to go. I used contact cleaner to make sure everything was a dry as possible and uncontaminated, I then used an electric screw drive to tighten all the bolts up efficiently, using a torque wrench for the last pass.
As an added tip when I put the two strips in the rear main housing I actually made the two small blocks to feed the strips in when the housing was tightened up, and yes they did make a difference, unsure if that was what the success was down to but they worked.
