    Heavy duty steering arms

    Hi guys,
I'm thinking about picking up some new beefed up steering arms for my 91 disco. I've bent them a few times before even with some under body protection. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend which ones to get and where from. I do a bit of resonably difficult 4wding but also use it as my daily drive.

Thanks for any help you can give
    Ryan

I fabbed my own out of 32 solid rod.

Otherwise Les Richmond Automotive in Thomastown, Victoria sell them. I've dealt a lot with them and find them excellent.

Also in my opinion it pays to get yourself a decent steering guard. The steering components are quite vunrable.

Yeah theres a pretty solid steering guard fitted. It Protects most of the components but I still have managed to bend the rear arm pretty badly. I was in the middle of no where too so was quite annoying. One less thing that will go wrong in the bush.

If its for a daily driver

    No, no non nononononononno NO

FOr the same reason as you dont fit an uprated drag link. or pitman arm

When they fail you can bodge and replace them If you uprate them and they dont fail they take out the next major assembly, in the case of the pitman arm, the sector shaft of the steering box and for the steering arms the lower part of the swivel assembly which then usually cracks up the axle or the CV.

By daily drive it's only probably 40kms a week tops. Basically only when I'm too lazy to ride to work. Maybe better off just getting another set of stock arms and taking them with me as they are pretty easy to fit with limited equipment.

hi, over here its " SUMO " bars are the way to go, as for putting strain on the next part its the ball joints that take all the pressure first, easy fix. i do minor comp and drive every day on the road for four years now with no probs from steering. and trust me i like getting into trouble off-road so that i can work my D1 to the max.
