Hello everyone after some info on cruise control. I have 1995 300tdi D1. It seems to have an aftermarket cruise but I believe this was installed at the dealer as I have seen a few others with the same unit fitted in the engine bay. The story goes I bought this car with a spun big end and pretty rough allround. I've been tidying up slowly after the engine rebuild.
The cruise was stuffed so on a trip to rover wreak I found another unit to switch out. Unfortinatly I did not pull out the new one I got my dad to while I was getting a seat and front seat sliders out of another car at the other end of the yard. Replaced the old unit for the new unit. Dad connot remember how it went so i fitted it the exact way I pulled the old one out but I don’t believe it to be correct as the new one has a bracket for the cable the old one was just free.
So I was hoping someone will have simular setup as what mine should be like I have attached photos to try to help you guys out.
I believe that it may be coming from the wrong way it is currently facing rearward so it slackens the cable when arm moves under acceleration. This does not seem right to me
If anyone can post pics of the correct way that would be amazing thanks
From looking at photo 3 it is a pull type setup, so is correct. My aftermarket (Autron) system is similar but the cable is setup in line with the acc cable. Pull type setup. No photos as the cable has snapped after 10yrs of service. Test the cruise to see if it works. You should feel a lot of slack under the acc pedal when in cruise mode.
