Tornado Chip for D1?
Has anyone fitted a Tornado chip to their V8 D 1, specifically a 1995 model.
Ive upgraded to a 4.6 block with all the original 3.9 bits and am looking at getting some more oomph and possibly some fuel efficiency for general driving.
Cheers.

My 95 disco with 4.6 HC motor is fitted with a Tornado chip and the original 3.9 gear.
Rang and ordered the chip directly from Mark Adams, great to talk to and very helpful. I think the chip is one he has programmed for us in Aus, eg, no cats and low compression, but he recommends high compression.
Needed the chip to be soldiered in, but was sorted by a friendly household electronics repairer.
How does it go........quiet well
the 4.6 is top hatted and high comped with torque cam from triumph rover spares and uses the original 3.9 injectors.
Fuel consumption is better than the 3.9( fuel log app ) but don't know how much more oomph.... But it loves hills

Thanks for the info.
I guess it wouldn't be to tricky to find someone to solder the chip in.
Mine's got massive low down grunt and it definetly has more go than the 3.9 overall but on a good hill she isn't awsome ( partly due to the taller tyres)and that's what i'm looking to correct.
Ive given it more airflow in and extractors and decent exhaust so figured the chip might do the trick.
Cheers

I have a Tornado chip in my 4.6 fitted by Mark a few years back. I too have issues with over sized tires etc but installing a chip won't make a huge difference in going up hills as you put it.
You will find that the overall driving of the car is much more of a pleasure though and there will be a few more HP's & lbs of torque thrown in too.
I also changed my airflow meter to a SAGEM one, put Magnicor leads, Marks 'secret' injectors and a session on the rolling road to fine tune it all in.
End result....I looked like I'd swallowed a coat hanger coz I couldn't stop smiling. On the Dyno the numbers will show you have a better fuel efficiency but in real life you'll find it hard to resist planting the right foot more often so the beneficial results are blown out of the tail pipe.
Marks a perfectionist so when he last came to Dubai I had him do a full diagnostic session on my Discovery. He'll do the TPS, the AFM, fuel pressure etc etc etc etc....he's 'THE' master of his craft make no doubt about it!
Don't forget to change the tune resistor too

Thanks Streaky,
Looks like it's settled and time to send Mark an email :-)
