    Disco 1 power differences

This has probably been discussed before but can someone please tell me how come a 94.200 tdi disco has more power and speed than my 98.300 tdi. I have had the injector pump timed. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The pump on the 200 Tdi may have been adjusted to deliver more fuel. This is a common mod but can result in fuel coming out the exhaust as a black soot cloud. To maximise the benefit of of any fuel pump adjustment that delivers more fuel the 200 Tdi may have a higher boost pressure and more efficient intercooler. Exhaust modifications can also allow the turbo to spool up faster and produce boost quicker therefore getting away sooner,

If the 200 Tdi is stock then you need to look at your 300 Tdi. Is the intercooler clean, is your turbo producing the correct amount of boost? Is your exhaust restricting the flow of gases. Intake system? Is there any restrictions in the intake. Who timed the pump for you?

Thank you for your repliey. The injector was tuned by Warragul Deisel Injector Services. As far as we know the 200 has never been altered or modified, does not blow smoke when driving alomg. Just been driven like it was stolen. I know of another 300 that lacks the same power. I read in other posts that the 300 is slower, is this common.

300 has all the emissions stuff on it, egr etc and I believe runs higher boost as standard to compensate, so in theory if you block the egr the 300 should go better, if not there may be a problem if its a stock 200.

we have a 200 defender, no idea what happened to it in a past life but it goes as well as the 300 disco, lots of turbo noise though so I think it's been worked at some point.

There is of course another issue which contributes to different performance characteristics.

The gearbox and gearing ratios are different !
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

My 200tdi goes better than my 300tdi even with the pump tweaked on the 300. The 200 has less kms though which I think may be half the reason. I can't see any form of egr system on any of the 3 300's I've got tho so maybe they don't all get them?

Apparently the EGR thing was in the UK, and no Disco's in Aus have them. I was looking to blank it out as well to increase performance for my 300 tdi, but found it was already blanked.
