    Rear crankshaft seal

Hi Fellas, just a quickie, I have had the clutch on my Mk1 Disco replaced and as part of the job the mechanic suggested replacing the rear crankshaft seal, which he did. When I got the car back, there was oil dripping out of the flywheel housing drain so I took it back and he said he would replace the new seal with another, this time an OEM Landrover part. Now the flywheel housing is leaking oil again, and the Disco has to go back - the mechanic is replacing the seal again!! Have you got any advice? Is there a knack to fitting the seal? Any suggestions welcome - wish I'd never said yes to changing it now!!

Hey mate is it petrol or diesel? I've had issues with the flywheel housing gasket on a 200tdi before but no dramas with a v8 always done t seals whilst your in there too.

landrover rear mains require patients, if its a tdi you may find that the leak is coming from the Tseal or sump joiner.

Thanks for the replies, although telling me it shouldn't have been replaced if it was not leaking isn't very helpful (lol) and it's a 300 Tdi 1997
