Change the intercooler??
Spoke to the guys at rover wreak this week. I was having a chat about giving my 300tdi a bit more go. He said don't mess with anything until you do the intercooler. Apparently i would go from around 40kw to near 60kw with the pump tune that everyone does.
The intercooler they sell is $700ish it fits Luke the original one. Its meant to give better flow as original is fairly restricted. So i was wondering if anyone actually has swapped the intercooler and what are their thoughts

I've had the conversion done. I'm assuming you mean TRS in Lonsdale as the people you were speaking to.
After I had the upgraded inter-cooler and then a dyno-tune the old girl went from 55kw to 70.3 kw - quite an improvement. However I felt that she was over-fuelling a bit (much black smoke under load up hills) so to prevent excessively high EGT readings I had the fuel pump wound back a bit.
It's definitely a modification I'd recommend. Just make sure the dyno mob you send it to for calibrating are not cowboys who are only fixated on how much absolute max power they can derive from your engine.

It's the pump mod that makes the difference, the stock I/C isn't the best but most aftermarket ones I've seen aren't much better.
