Where to service in Brisbane inner west?

Hi all, after some VERY bad experiences last year, I am looking for a reliable service mechanic for my 1994 diesel. I'm reasonably technically minded, but as a single mum I am extremely conscious of the fact that I don't have a guy lurking around who can act as insurance against me being ripped off by mechanics who want to do stuff to my car that isn't really necessary.

The last lot of bozos I went to did the extreme opposite and failed on multiple occasions to tell me that there were things that were likely to need attention in the near future and as a result, some major things went wrong at really inconvenient times - like on the top of a mountain in the middle of winter at dusk, 1,600kms from home with no mobile reception in a National Park with my two little kids in the car. When they did 'fix' things, they used incompatible parts - like a Commodore brake switch, which meant that my brake lights worked sometimes and not others. Really, really stupid and dangerous.

I'd just like to find someone who will reliably service the Disco and consult with me as to what needs fixing and in what time frame, so I might have some chance of getting the money together instead of me being hit with an unexpected $1000 repair bill while interstate and broke. That incident in the mountains was 100% preventable with a cheap part that should have been replaced when they did the clutch and instead it took nearly $2000 and 3 months to get my car back.

I don't care if they work privately or from a business, just as long as they are reliable and come recommended.
    Thanks in advance...

I'll have a look at it and see where its at before probably recommending that you book well ahead with MR automotive.

Thanks Dave - how and when can I get it to you for a look? It pretty desperately needs seeing to.

Did you get your vehicle sorted with Blknight.aus or MR, ming?
