    Distributor Re-fit

    Hi Gang,
Any tips on refitting the distributor properly? Ive lined up TDC on the crank with no.1 on the dizzy with no.1 piston up the top. Im just getting weak backfire ( attributed to **** battery too). It's a 3.5 high comp in a '91 disco. Cheers

So you forgot to line up the crank and mark the dissy position before you removed it?

Position the engine at TDC, remove no.1 plug, then use a piece of heater hose to blow into the cylinder. Rotate the engine less than 1/4 turn in each direction from TDC. If the valves open (clockwise = inlet, anticlockwise = exhaust) and you can blow in easily, you are 1 turn out on the crank. If you can't blow in easily you have the correct position for no.1 firing.
