    Tyres any suggestions?

hey so i have fitted my terrafirma 2" lift and the bus looks great! just needs to look abit more beasty so tyres are the next thing! i cant find many photos on the internet of anyone running the stock rims with bigger tyres but went down to my local tyre dealers and got a quote for some mickey thompson mtz i think 245/75r16 which will be about $325 or coopers st 245/75r16 $320 i have run coopers on my old nissan and were quite happy with them but thy just font look as tough as the mickeys keeping in mind most of the driving i do around were i am are slight rocky but majority sand. every one else around town seems to run mickeys tho and they look great! I'm looking to gain extra height and width potential with out having to get new rims. any help or suggestions would be appreciated thanks! or photos i do like photos of discos...

I've found from experience that the more aggressive the tread pattern, the lesser performance on sand. I had Maxxis 751's on the my ute & they were great on the beach but didn't cut it on our property. Went to Maxxis Bighorns & great in the rough but way too chunky for beach work (as I discovered). I think that MT's are made by Coopers anyway? Had the Kelly Safaris on the old Rangie & they were the best I've had for sand. Don't know if they're still available. They're in the photo & yes, it's a few years ago!

2 inch spring lift and 245/75R16 maxxis Bighorns on standard offset 16 inch rims (standard wheels will sit the same), not the best for sand as they tend to dig in but you asked for pictures and this is the look. Not bad at all on the road, and very good on rocks and in the mud.

I would have to agree with the above. I have a set of 245/75R16 Bighorns and they are fantastic it the brown stuff or on the rocks, but pretty lousy in the sand.

I had them in the sand the other day and they failed me in places a set of AT's would not have. I ended up with them down at about 15PSI and it really wasn't "THAT" soft.

My opinion, you are better off sticking a set of decent AT's on in the same size if you do mostly sand driving with a bit of rocky stuff here and there. I have a set of Hankook AT-M's on the Pajero and I love them in the sand. They aren't too bad in the mud (nothing too crazy) and have been pretty good on rock as I have tested them throughout Glasshouse Mountains in QLD.

    Hope that helps?

    Chris
