    Removing auto gear indicator?

I need to take out the indicator that surrounds the auto's gear selector to replace it. I know how to get the ring around it off but how do i actually take the indicator unit off?

Just hoping i dont have to take apart the entire centre console to do it

    Thanks,
    Dizza

I'm pretty sure this has been answered this question once before. A search might find it. I can't think of the exact procedure now, it's been too long.

If you are replacing the bulb, do NOT use the specified 5 watt bulb. It is too hot and will melt the plastic. Use a 3 watt bulb .

A quick Search yes when you have actually posted in that thread and it appears in the "your posts" list... Searching the AULRO forum is cumbersome and Flawed, you try and seach for something and 1000's of results come up most of which do not relate and yes i have tried every setting in the Advanced search, its easier just to post the question again

I can't think of a forum I'm on that has a good search facility - it's the nature of the beast, maybe that's why so many are implementing Google search.

Google search is at the bottom every forum page.

I struggle with the search too mate dw.

You need to pull the gear shifter off (under the top cap there is a clip)
Then you lift up the entire unit that sits around the indicator. Then unscrew it from underneath and then slide of the indicator sleeve.
Memory may be a bit wrong but that's the general jist of it, not hard takes about 5 mins.
If your doing this because your sleeve is torn a RRC one is the same as I fitted a disco one in place of a torn RRC one to my classic.
