If you are replacing the bulb, do NOT use the specified 5 watt bulb. It is too hot and will melt the plastic. Use a 3 watt bulb .
Could that be what heats up the top (fake timber) part of transmission tunnel????

Is it the bulb that's coloured or the actual gear indicator?
Can an LED bulb be substituted?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

It's the gear indicator that's coloured. And yes to the LED, though you have to make sure you get the physical size right, it's a bit tight in there for space.

Bugger I was hoping I'd be able to change those, and the dash lights, to blue. Seems not.

Oh and I've heard that the whole centre console needs to come out to change the gear indicator ?

Pretty sure that's not the case. As I recall, it was easy to do, but I don't remember how exactly it was done.

That's correct according to my manual, just undo little screw in the "handle" piece then remove handle. then after disconnecting all the small leads from the "gear indicator" just lift over the top & there ya go. This is just a simplified version of course.

Don't bother been there tried that, its the actual dash inserts that turn the light green, pulled green rubber covers of bulbs....still green, put blue bulbs all round noticed the difference but mostly still green........really isn't worth the effort
