I have attached pics to this thread already of how I attached sensor at the block etc. In the cab I have just installed above the passenger sun visor for now as I have run out of spots on the dash due to all the other gauges

I will swap the existing unit with the one I just purchased as my old one only went to 110c.
BTW, The one i bought recently is for a different application where I am making a temp controlled esky for my Wifes kefir (live yogurt culture) that likes a constant 24c.

I get a wide range of temps.
From around 30-40 deg C mid winter at 100-110kph cruising to 80+deg C slow 4wd in the heat or pulling 3rd with tranny not locked up on sandy outback tracks.

Once the torque converter locks up the temps drop noticably.

I have the alarm set at 100 I think.

Fitted mine on Thursday works well but had an issue this afternoon towing a trailer home the factory gauge came up over half but not in the red. It normaly just sits on half day in day out. The digital gauge never went over 90c and mostly sat around 86c un loaded its around 75c now I'm not sure what gauge to beleave

If the factory gauge moved I would have thought that the unit would have exceeded 90c. Are you sure that the setting 'H5' upper limit is set to the maximum (110c or higher on newer units)?
On the weekend mine briefly went up to 110c when climbing a big hill while towing and I noticed that the factory gauge had only moved slightly to exactly half way (normally sits just under half way).
Maybe you need to test the sensor unit with some boiling water to ensure you get around 100c.

Ile have a look at the settings I just chucked it In. And left it at that. Looking at the distructions it says upper limit setting is 120c default. The old girl is going to get the rad record in 4 core and a new viscous hub. Rad has not been touched in the ten years or so I have owned it and I doubt its ever had the hub replaced

At around $12, I just couldn't resist that digital temperature gauge.

I used a bit of copper pipe to hold the sensor. I extended the sensor wires as the only bolt I could find that was the right size was at the front of the motor. My understanding of the way the coolant flows suggests that is the best place to locate it anyway.

It has only been there for a couple of days, but I have already noticed that there seems to be only a few seconds delay between the temperature going up as I climb a hill and the temperature dropping when I lift my foot at the top of the hill. It seems to react very quickly to temperature changes.
