Soggy Disco
Well, here's the rub. '91 petrol Disco, engine transplant with a 9.35/1 rangy 3.5. Started up (eventually) ok, but severe internal coolant leakage. I haven't had the heads off but a comp test gave me 150/140 psi readings. Are there any inherent differences in the inlet manifolds I should be aware of which might have caused said leak? Would those pressures warrant a rebuild anyway or should I just explore the intake man. option?
Or does anyone want to swap a 2007 mode buell Ulysses for a going diesel disco (last resort!) Cheers.

Both the inlet manifold and the timing cover could leak into the engine, as of course the head gaskets and liners could do. I would remove both rocker covers, all spark plugs and the dissy and pressurise the radiator with air via a regulator. Then have a good listen at all the orifices. 1 metre of garden hose makes an adequate stethoscope.

Do you mean block off a heater hose and connect an air line into the other end? Cunning plan master!

Ok, into my "stupid mistakes" file goes another! The rear of a rangey 3.5 is a crankcase breather, EXACTLY the same size hose as what connects to the underside of the fuel injection. Nuff said, carry on, nothing to see here, move along!
