Plugs and Leads
Gday,
Fitting new plugs and leads to the disco tomorrow.
I have ngk BPR5ES plugs . They say they are set at .9mm
Will this be okay without and adjustments.
And should i do coil and dissy cap at the same time or will just plugs and leads be okay.
Any other tips or things to watch in what i hope is a straight forward job?

Coils don't fail very often, replace it only if you have a genuine new one available. Caps should be inspected under a bright light and polished inside and out with a soft cloth. Replace a cap only if its cracked or severely worn.

Okay cheers.
Everything is working fine at the moment so i might just leave the coil and cap.
Just slowly working my way through the new beast for piece of mind more than anything.

Okay did the plugs and leads today. Everything went smooth except the lead from the coil to the dissy. It doesnt fit, the ID is way to small to fit the coil. i used OEM leads from ricks 4x4 as recommended and they go to a bosch coil. It had champion leads on it before the change. Its a 97 3.9 v8, did they come out with bosch coils or originally a lucas?

What doesn't fit? The connector or the rubber boot? Boots can be swapped if needed from the old lead but usually its just a stretch.
Bosch coils are factory fit from about 1992 to 1998

Just seemed to be the boot. Maybe i didnt give it a good go/stretch, ill try it again tomorrow. I was taking it easy as i have passion fingers that like to break stuff. Also the ends of 7 of the 8 plugs were a light grey colour, only #5 was a bit darker, is the light grey colour normal?

I also recently got a set of genuine leads for late RRC/D1 and the no 5 lead was marked for the coil and the coil lead has the wrong boots fitted (one end for plug, other for a straight connection to the cap (not 90deg).
Had to buy a single lead as the suppliers stock was all incorrect.

Well i had another crack at it and the lead fits. Its a 90 at the dissy and a 45 at the coil ( previous champion was a 90 -90). It was hard to get the 45 started over the coil but it went and is working. I looked at my number 5 and its straight at the plug and a 90 at the dissy cap. Not sure if i should be swapping these as everything is on as marked and working (so far) havent been for a drive yet only started it.
