Rear wheel bearing change. Hub stuck

    Hi Guys.

I am changing the bearings on a Tdi300 and I have watched the you tube clips on it and I have the 2 52mm nuts and the washer between them off the hub just doesn't want to come off. I don't have a Disco1 Rave and have done the searches on hear and can't find any tips.

Also the bearings seem to be lubed by the diff oil. Do I greas them befor I put in the new ones?

I will drain and replace diff oil but how much do I put in. Do i measure the amount and only put that in or do I fill them to the filling plug?

also what oil do I use.

Sorry for the newbe questions I don't have an owners manual for this truck.

    Cheers from D2 Land

flip the wheel over put the wheel nuts on about 3 turns each, and use the wheel as a slide hammer.

yes, grease the wheel bearings before you put them in.

I use 80/90Wt, pretty much any will do, unless you have an exotic center that wants a different oil. then use what the Manufacturer reccomends.

with the vehicle level put oil in till it just laps at the threads of the filler plug and put the plug back in.

Check the breather while you have the filler out.

In which case you'll be needing Massage Oil rather than Diff oil

Worked. But I noticed the thick washer with the flat side seemed to be a little off line and that was digging into the start of the thread.
Once I got the hub off I used a bearing puller to get the second one off.

I need to replace my rear rotors and whilst at it i will replace the wheel bearings. Every kit i have seen has quality Chinese bearings.
Where can I source kits with SKF or similar bearings or does someone have the bearing and seal numbers.

Check the bearings before replacing, i have never had to replace a set yet - i just check, re-grease and re fit.
