Need to see under the bonnet to see if it's one of the real ones or a later conversion. The genuine were alloy block but quite a few were done later with iron blocks.

I had one of these, except it had a turbo400, was stroked and had L34 heads, rollers etc. And I think I paid around the same price, was a good car and went quite well.

If it was fitted in 1985, it would simply be the ordinary 4.9/5L Holden Iron block....no such thing as an alloy Holden block in those days.
At the time I wasn't into off road stuff, but I've always been into Brock, HDT, V8s etc etc, so I can "vaguely" remember this conversion, and the engine that was used was a H.D.T. (Brock) "Group 111" engine, which never had L34 heads....they (L34) were pre pollution around 1974/5. The Brock Group 111 engine simply had better (big valve) heads, HDT inlet manifold, extractor exhaust, for an output of 186kw. There was no internal work/balancing/camshaft etc.
Cheers, Pickles.
