Thread: Can anybody tell me what this is & why its like that?

was having a tidy up under the car today and noticed this thing sticking out of place. the bolt on the left was a 10mm and wasnt moving anywhere. the other bolt was a 14mm and i managed to carefully get it out. Lazy mechanic?

It's a blanking plate on an auto transmission used to find TDC. The plate pivots on the 10mm when loosened and part no LRT 12 044 in used in the 14mm to locate TDC. You should probably replace the 14mm if you haven't already done so.
