I got mine out with a hack saw blade. Very carefully cut out from the center until you can collapse the old bush and get it out.

I need to replace the rubber coupling tonight and looking at the workshop manual looks like i need a slide hammer with an internal clamp to remove the metal/rubber bush that sits inside the rear prop shaft. Anyone have a way that doesn't require this tool?

Wow that sounds time consuming!!!
I found a hammer and cold chisel worked well...
I replaced mine with a new 4 bolt kit.Get rid of the donut.I had to grind mine off very carefully as the heat required to pull the spigot out was a pain.No more worries about splitting the rubber in the field as its the same as a defender one now
that looks like a far better option. pity ive already bought everything i need to replace. what did the conversion set you back?
On a D2 anyway , you don't have to remove the spigot guide thingo.I need to replace the rubber coupling tonight
Just undo 6 bolts and do em up.
You have to remove the spigot to do the oil seal in the diff.

i dont even know if the seal needs replacing i just received one in the kit with the donut. so i assume you usually replace them at the same time? nothings leaking...for a change.
If it is steel you could run a weld around the inside of the spigot.
This should shrink it enough for it to slide out.
