Hi,
does anybody know how the mecanism works? I pulled the drinks tray out because i changed the black fascia assembly as my old one was cracked. As i was pulling it out the inner bit that actually pops out with the spring behind came off the whole plastic assembly. there is nothing cracked or broken but for some reason when i stuck it back in the frame you can push it back but it wont go all the way. there is a little plastic swivel which has to line into some kind of slider to stop it popping out. i cant see anything getting in the way or any reason why it wont go all the way in and stay in. the little plastic gears are still there, the spring works it just wont click in.
is there any special way it has to go in? its doing my head in

Yea i was trying that i had the whole unit out, but with the gears n all it wouldnt go all the way in. I pushed it and it chewed some of the teeth now so the gears are useless. Without them it seems to click and stay though.
Im ****ed off coz i just got a new centre console black facia so it was all nice n new except for the bleeming drinks tray. Seems to be hanging out a bit but maybe when i put it back it wont show.
From memory, there is a little plastic piece that sits near the middle of the assembly near the back (when the whole thing is out can see looking down on it). That piece sits in one position for tray out and a different position for "tray in". I replaced one (the whole assembly) with the same problem you have as that little piece in my original one was broken. It looked OK at first, you may have to look pretty closely to see the break.
With the new one, it's OK but not perfect, I had heaps of trouble getting it to sit neatly in the dash as the 6 or 8 screws have a bit of movement so it's easy to get it crooked. I did them up loosely and gradually tightened them a bit at a time to try and keep it straight.
Hope that helps - you may be in the market for another tray though...
Cheers
