    Injector Pumps Info

    Hi,

Ive been trying to find info on the injector pumps but it all seems so hard. Some sites have about 6 that fit discos, others none.

I know theres some bosch ones that fit the lr part number err6700. Some bosch and lr that fit err4419 and err4046.

Some of these say egr or no egr. What does this mean? I assume its some engine management or electronic control instead if the belt drive or to do with elect throttle instead if cable???

Im confused. Possiblyblooking at having to recon mine but not sure the diff between all these numbers and hoping to get good price for one thats already built. Just need to know which. I take it they arent interchangeable.

Are some superseded or no good?

    I have a 96 300tdi disco 1. Late 96.

    Thanks blokes

Hi I have the same dilemma.

Local Bosch diesel place quoted $1,500 for a full rebuild (I remove and refit), regardless of what was wrong with it.

Or, about $1,200 for one from the UK delivered genuine Bosch including local UK exchange. This now appears to be a ERR4046 pump, the ERR4419 is about $400 more expensive for some reason??

The difference between a ERR4046 and a ERR4419 appears to be that the ERR4046 has an EGR position sensor (EGR=Exhaust Gas Recirculation). You can apparently just change over the relevant parts from your old pump? The Australian Defender 300tdi's didn't have EGR and pretty sure the discos didn't either.

The other pump number might have something to do with the kickdown bracket for autos??

I agree it all seems too hard, and am starting to think I will just spend the extra and get it done locally.

    EGR

yea i thought egr might have something to do with the exhaust. mine has the blanking plate over the return pipe though. was that standard for aussie vehicles? i always thought a previous owner did that.

so your saying the 6700 might be auto? its hard trying to figure it out ill look at the link now maybe that will explain it and this post will be redundant.

    Fuel pump

still confused. jordan rover tech in perth quoted me 1200 to exchange unit for a recon one. i have to do the timing belt soon and was going to get them to do it he quoted me bout 2k for the timing belt and the fuel pump exchange.

Ive been crying in my sleep for the last few days. even though it seems to be a pretty fair price from what ive been researching.

theres a few recon. pumps in the uk for about 1k. and i sourced one of the 6700 new for about the same but dont want to buy it unless its going to work.

would be nice to keep my old one just in case. also there seems to be the landrover number and then several brands which fit that from bearmach, britpart, landrover and bosch.

seems to be easier to just let rover tech deal with it although that way i will lose my old pump which id rather not.

only 2 pumps got fitted , one with EGR and electronic control and one without.

as Australia didnt need to meet the emissions restrictions we only ever got the pump without the electronics.

$1200-$1500 is the going rate for the overhaul of the pump sans R+R and its about $500-$1k to Remove and replace the pump at an injection work shop.

you can DIY rebuild the pump but getting the specialist tooling and all the right parts then calibrating it all properly needs a lot of faith and improvisational ability.

    My Advise.

Pay for the overhaull work. The difference between "sweet its running" and "Sweet jesus, its running away and i cant shut it down" is fractions of nothing.
