Steering very tight at parking speed

    Hi all,
When I get in the disco in the morning, the steering is not too bad.As I go to park in a parking spot down the shops it seems like I dont have any power steering, its very heavy. If I rev it I get the power back, but when I back off it goes back to being heavy again.
This doesnt happen continuously,it happens at different times through out the day,but only at parking speeds.
Can anyone give me a clue as to what I need to check.

Box was refurbished approx 18 months ago.Fluid is ok,hoses are ok.
    Thanks

    cheers

Does sound like you are not getting enough pressure out of the pump at low speeds. Before writing the pump off, I would check the pulleys ( slipping ), the belts, ( slipping ) and the idle speed.( too low )

If it is a 300Tdi, then check the top radiator hose isn't leaking coolant onto the belt....
