    Bypassed the spider - 300tdi

It is my understanding that sooner rather than later my spider security system on my Disco 1 will pack up in the most awkward of places causing me much anguish and gnashing of teeth. Anticipating this event I have bypassed it with the 2 bits of wire trick. Everything still seems to still work insofar as doors still lock/unlock and alarm sounds. This puzzled me until I realized that the only thing happening is immobolizer has been bypassed.
This means that any bloody minded person could break in and start the car due to solenoid not being locked out. (Why you would want to steal a Disco, God only knows). So to make it a bit more difficult I have put a hidden switch in solenoid line that needs to be on before solenoid will activate. I have also attached a LED which confirms me solenoid is receiving 12v and not suffering from bad connection, everything works well. On the downside it means I have to remember to switch it off and on.
Does anyone see any future problems I have created for myself??

So essentially its only the immobilizer thats been bypassed, i did mine with a wire direct from battery to inj. pump solenoid with a switch in between.
One of my fair weather jobs is to repair the spider.

In Disco 1 it's behind radio, small black box. Have a look at this, tells all.

For the past six years of ownership I've always wondered whether my 1997MY "S" variant with no alarm fitted at all or remote fob has a spider unit, if anyone knows?

According to OEM specifications, no central locking, alarm or immobolizer.
