Serious petrol leak disco 1
g'day all,
occasionally on the bumpy stuff, I have smelled petrol and after having a good look around, have put it down to petrol splashing around and venting through the breather as no fuel has been sighted....
I filled "Stumpy" this morning and drove around 30km doing the usual dad stuff and after arriving home I could smell petrol again.
I poked me noggin up under the left hand side rear of the car and noticed a large stream of petrol running from the top left hand side of the petrol tank down on to the ground. Any disco owner knows that it's impossible to see on top of the tank as the clearance eliminates a good look around. The inspection/fuel pump access cover in the boot was removed and showed no evidence of leaking.
My question is, before I drop the tank for a proper look... Is there any known issues with disco 1 tanks?
"stumpy" is a 3.9l v8 1999 model (the very last one I am lead to believe)
Thanks
stumpy

I read recently of how one member (superquag?) had his faulty plastic petrol tank replaced under a recall as late as this year. I assume like all plastic moulded items the occasional one will have a moulding fault. Then there's the breathers that insert in each corner of the tank, and the rubber grommets that seal them. Find someone with a spare tank, they fit all the D1s and late RRCs so aren't exactly thin on the ground. I cut up and disposed of quite a few back when I was regularly fitting gas conversions to them. No-one wanted any.
