Want to buy a 91 2dr manual v8i. What do I look out for?

Just looked at a 91 v8i. It's got no rego. Started first time. Hasn't been registered for a while. Just looking for a fun 4x4. Not an everyday car. I took it for a test drive and ran better than I expected. Went through all the gears and 4wd. Everything seemed to work aok. No major leaks either. I would like some tips on exactly what to look for. What to expect and are they hard to fix. I'm pretty handy with a spanner and workshop manual. I've been going through this site and you guys seem well educated with discos. Would love your opinion. It's got 230k on the clock. Thanks guys

They are pretty simple tech wise so check the same things you would on any used car. Check backlash when in low range, lift front floor mats and check for rust. They are easy to work on and parts are quite reasonable.

Also check for rust in the body - around the alpine windows.

Look in the oil filler cap for a milky crud and check the coolant before and after the drive. Iv got a 91 2 door v8, same Ks. My thermostat went recently abd it's right in the zone for a head gasket. Iv also blown up my rear diff. Ask when the diff oils were last checked as that was a pain to fix. Look for signs of leaking around the windscreen as well as replacements don't tend to fit well. Doubtful after 20 years it's the same glass. Take it for a spin on gravel somewhere and check the cdl too. I think that's all the issues Iv had.

CDL = Centre Diff Lock. The little lever forward of the gear lever, move forward 2 positions for low range, across to the left to lock the centre diff.
