Ive heard of people using a Tech screw to lock them up. :o

Kevin apart from your fuel economy dropping if you lock a viscous hub you can potentially destroy your rad due to the exploding fan! The beauty of a viscous hub apart from there being no electrics to play up, (having said that I'm intending on changing mine to a thermo fan for other 4wd related reasons!) is that it moves more or less air depending on coolant temp to keep the motor at optimum running temperature. They are not designed to spin at 3500+ rpm and will explode (when is subject to age and condition) throwing bits of metal and hard plastic into your radiator core. A far more costly problem than a $100 hub. If you have ever seen a chewed out rad on an old farm hack you will know why! I have locked mine up with a tek screw before but only until my new one arrived ex East. As 200tdi says an interim measure till you sort the real problem out!

Exactly, I'm going to get one ordered so it arrives as soon as poss after Christmas break, you can see the fan flex when you rev so isn't ideal
Think it needs a new rad TBH as still gets a little warm but not overheating like it was.
I will probably get an electric tbh as I've got one on my challenge truck and it's awesome !!

Or you could spend 4+ times that amount Chineese radiators seem to be OK. A lot of modified bikes run them. The fans im not so sure about.

I bought mine from Les Richmond Auto or MR Automotive ex East. Can't remember which! Price plus postage was cheaper than one here. I got the old style brass and copper simply because I figured if the original lasted 15 years then I was making a better investment than if I bought an alloy that has a realistic life of half that. Also I do a fair bit of 4x4ing and copper handles the vibrations better, I had a friend who bought one of the new alloy ones and coming home from the CSR the thread for the oil cooler cracked and pumped out most of the oil! However I have heard lots of good stories about the alloys. If I wanted a reliable landy:wasntme: I would never touch a Chinese Ebay one for my primary vehicle. Having said that they are probably all made there but goods for export markets often have to pass quality control so the aussie suppliers get good ones and the rejects get sold via online sites!
